How is Survival funded?^

Almost all our money (about 80%) comes from our supporters and concerned individuals. Most donations are small, which means we are not dependent on a few larger donors. About 250,000 individuals have helped us financially over the years. About 10% of our income comes from a few trusts and foundations. The remainder comes from our merchandise.

Why does Survival depend on the public for its funds? ^

This gives us complete independence and preserves our absolute integrity, ensuring we never adjust our message or work to suit donors.

How does Survival spend the money? ^

Our resources are allocated to our educational, research and outreach work, with very little spent on administration. Not a single penny is wasted. We do not claim that most of our money goes to tribal peoples themselves – it doesn’t. Our accounts are audited to the highest standards; a summary is published in our annual report.

Why is regular giving important? ^

Regular giving by Direct Debit is the best way to support Survival. It involves less administration, allows us to plan our work, confident in the knowledge of your regular support.

Will I receive an acknowledgement of my gift? ^

When you donate online you will receive an email confirmation of your gift almost immediately. To keep costs down, Survival does not normally send acknowledgements of gifts received through the post. Please let us know if you would like us to do so.

What is Gift Aid? ^

Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift to Survival International – at no extra cost to you. If you pay tax in the UK, Survival can reclaim the basic rate tax (25%) on your gift. So, if you donate £100, it is worth £125 to Survival. The process is simple – all you have to do is make a Gift Aid declaration. If you are donating online or in response to an appeal we have sent you by post, just tick the Gift Aid box on the donation form.

*Please notify Survival if you want to cancel your declaration, change your name or home address and/or no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.

Can I leave Survival a gift in my will? ^

Yes, a legacy to Survival in your will is a wonderful and lasting memorial to your concern for tribal peoples. Find out more or contact us for a copy of our legacy brochure.

How do I increase, decrease or cancel my regular donations to Survival? ^

Please email us. Please note, for Standing Order donations,  you will need to contact your bank directly to cancel. Your bank will only take instruction from you. We would however be grateful if you could let us know you have done this, so that we can amend our records.
