“We don’t want to see WWF in our life and in our forest”
In south-east Cameroon, the Baka’s land has been turned into Protected Areas, supported by WWF, and the Baka have been evicted from their forest. Yvonne, whose ancestral land now lies inside Lobéké National Park, can’t access the forest any more. She explains that she can no longer find the food she needs to feed her children, and on which the Baka way of life depends. The government and conservation organizations, including WWF, prevent the Baka from accessing their forest, putting their very existence at stake. It’s a green genocide.
